Dear Friends,
Happy New Year!! Today, July 1st, marks the start of a new year, and thus a new membership cycle, for The Shepherd’s Center of Richmond (TSCOR), which runs through June 30, 2025.
The Shepherd’s Center mission – encouraging older adults to remain active and independent through enrichment programs and volunteer service to their peers – reflects what our community needs and benefits from. We are fortunate to have had many of you supporting us over the years and look forward to what we can achieve together in the coming years.
Please renew, or begin, your membership today and join us in welcoming a new year!
Annual membership is only $25.
Membership benefits:
– free admission to all lunch speakers
– reduced Open University tuition
– participation in scheduled Events
– invitation to our Annual Volunteer Celebration
$25 will:
– support TSCOR’s lifelong learning programs: Open University and Lunch & Life.
– support TSCOR’s client services. Volunteers provide free rides to medical appointments and grocery stores for seniors in our community.
– support our mission.
It’s easy to become a member at any time. Join online here or return this printable form with your check.
Thank you and take good care,
Julie Adams-Buchanan, MS, CVA
Executive Director, The Shepherd’s Center of Richmond

I renewed my membership today. You can’t beat the membership bonus of free attendance to sixteen lunchtime lectures during each term of Open University (OU). During each OU term, add the free-and-open-to-all St. Mary’s Lunch & Life series, and that’s twenty lectures to look forward to during each Fall, Winter, and Spring term!
The Shepherd’s Center of Richmond’s Education Committee is doing a superb job of lining up courses and speakers for the Fall 2024 Open University term which begins on September 23, 2024. Weekday, daytime lifelong learning is a gift in retirement–or with today’s flexible work schedules, anytime!
As you meet new friends and talk to old friends, and if you hear of acquaintances who are retiring or if you meet people new to the RVA area, tell them about Open University and about the Shepherd’s Center of Richmond. There’s is so much to do in retirement; just ask me, and I can tell you what keeps me busy.
