We Are…

The Shepherd’s Center Richmond is a volunteer-driven nonprofit that supports active, independent, and engaged older adults through lifelong learning and community service. Founded in RVA in 1984, we are a local affiliate of the national Aging Forward network. There are lots of ways to get involved….

Want to serve the community? The Center’s clients are 60+ and need a helping hand. Drivers give rides to medical appointments, grocery shoppers pick up and deliver groceries and handymen and handywomen do minor home repairs. Want to learn something new? Open University and Lunch & Life are two of our lifelong learning programs. They are comprised of volunteer instructors, lecturers and speakers. Volunteers on the education committee plan and schedule every session and on-site volunteers greet students, prepare refreshments and assist with a/v needs. Need connection? The Center offers events for their members to get together, see RVA and connect with each other in the process. Volunteers on the events committee find places to go and things to do! Events are for members only, but are encouraged to bring a guest. Or share your professional skills? Our “behind-the-scene” volunteers are numerous: board members, development, finance, public relations, and diversity committee members and more….everyone is a volunteer sharing skills with the TSCOR community. Visit our volunteer page to stay active, independent and engaged.
