TSCOR is a volunteer organization designed by active, independent and engaged older adults who empower themselves and their communities through lifelong learning and volunteer service. Founded in RVA in 1984, we are a local affiliate of the national Shepherd’s Center of America network. Join us – there’s a place that’s right for you!
Would you like to serve seniors? TSCOR’s clients are 60+ and need a helping hand. Drivers give rides to medical appointments, grocery shoppers pick up and deliver groceries and handymen and handywomen do minor home repairs. Do you enjoy lifelong learning? Open University and Lunch & Life are comprised of volunteer instructors, lecturers and speakers. Volunteers on the education committee plan and schedule every session and on-site volunteers greet students, prepare refreshments and assist with a/v needs. Are you a wanderer? TSCOR travels near and far. Volunteers on the travel committee find new places to go and plan every step of the journey. Travel is open to members and non-members, so bring your friends! Do you desire to share your professional skills? Our “behind-the-scene” volunteers are numerous: board members, development, finance, public relations, and diversity committee members and more….everyone is a volunteer sharing skills with the TSCOR community.
