Open University Begins Soon!

Have you missed the Open University this summer?? Well, you won’t have to wait much longer. Classes begin on Monday, September 23 and Thursday, September 26.

Since you might be eager for a lecture, I thought this would be a good time for you to watch a video about Dr. Elbert Cole who began the Shepherd’s Center Movement back in 1972. It’s a little, 10 minute, lecture where you will learn a bit more about our history. Some of the clips were taken from a 60 Minutes story that ran in the 70’s. Our model is a wonderful one that truly benefits those involved and I am very proud to be a part of it. Enjoy the video!

Trip to Holy Land and Petra in Jordan

Hal Costley, TSCOR Board President, is hosting a trip to the Holy Land and to Jordan’s Petra March 16-25, 2020. Several friends expressed an interest in going so he thought some Shepherd’s Center folks might also want to go with friends.

The trip is with Educational Opportunity Tours (www.EO.travelwithus.com), a tour group that has received excellent reviews from friends that have been to the Holy Land with them, including Hal’s pastor this past winter.

The trip is titled Holy Land via Jordan and is listed as Tour HL-20 Code J.  You may see details at this link: http://www.eo.travelwithus.com/files/uploads/HL20J-1.pdf.  The cost of the trip is around $3,650 leaving directly from Richmond.  Registration requires a $100 deposit and completing the registration form on the web site.  Travel insurance would be an additional $349 – $399 if desired (it is recommended).

There is no need for a visa for travel to Israel but there is for Jordan. EO Tours will arrange the Jordan visa for anyone traveling.

If you are interested in going, please let Hal know and he will send you additional information.

Call Hal if you have any questions: 804-937-6930 (cell) or 804-708-0169 (home) or email at halcostley@aol.com.

Driver Recruitment Video

have a wonderful creation to share with you.  After many months of work, we have a new video to help us recruit more volunteer drivers for our medical transportation service!  The link below is also on the Volunteer tab of the website.

I want to thank our drivers, Peter (voice over), Randy and Beth, and our clients Martha and Barbara, for making this a true TSCOR production.  They are fantastic!

Please feel free to share this with your family, friends and those that may be inclined (or need to be convinced) to volunteer.  And, if you are connected with a group, congregation or organization that would benefit from a presentation by our speaker’s bureau, please let me know.  We are really focused on driver recruitment this year.  Enjoy the video – Julie

WE Need Volunteer Drivers

Click HERE for a story about our fellow Shepherd’s Center in Chesterfield and their critical need for more volunteer drivers. Please help in their area if you can.  And, if you are not in their area, our Center is also in need of more drivers.

The demand for senior transportation will only become greater as time goes on.  Please help us take care of our elder citizens.  Thank you – Julie
