It is with immense sadness that I report the death, last night, of our President and dear friend, Jack Welsh. Cancer was discovered several months ago, and although the initial prognosis was good, things turned. The last couple of months have been very hard. I can’t express in words how much he will be missed. We hold Jeanette and their family in our hearts – Julie
The following is a part of a Facebook post by Jack’s close friend and student, Bruce Miller:
His wife Jeanette needs a little peace and quiet right now, but for those who love Jack and Jeanette, and I know we are legion, I know she’ll appreciate hearing from you in a week or so. No service is planned at this time. In accordance with Jack’s wishes, a performance of “Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris” will be presented in joyful memory of his life at Virginia Rep’s theatre at Willow Lawn in the spring. Tonight, raise a glass to a good man … or maybe smoke a pipe.
This is sad news, indeed. Jack, thank you for all you have done, and were, in this life. We will miss you!
