Come to the Open University Thursday!
There is no forecast for snow this Thursday, so why don’t you join us at the Open University. It is going to be a great day! Here’s a link to our schedule.
PS – Former Lieutenant Governor, The Honorable John Hager, will be our lunch speaker.
OPEN UNIVERSITY CLOSED MONDAY
Well that was VERY short lived..
OPEN UNIVERSITY WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY, JANUARY 14. Richmond Public Schools have closed and therefore we will also be closed. BUT, please join us next Monday. Be safe!
.
As of Now, OU is Open Tomorrow
Just a reminder that The Shepherd’s Center follows Richmond Public Schools closing decisions. As of right now, Richmond schools are on a 2-hour delay for Monday, January 14, which means that the Open University will start ON TIME at 9:45 am tomorrow!
If conditions worsen overnight and the status changes, updates will be posted on news channels 6 and 8, on our website – www.tscor.org, and emailed to you, just like now. We will be following Richmond Public Schools’ final decision.
As always, please use caution when driving in wintery conditions. Take good care – Julie
Happy New Year!
Wishing you and yours happiness in the New Year

End of Year Giving
Remember the letter we sent to you this past October? Written by our Board President, Hal Costley, it spoke of how the generous support of our donors makes them a part of our group of shepherds, guiding and supporting Richmond seniors in need. It’s a wonderful collection of individuals.
If you haven’t already, please consider either continuing, or beginning, your support of our mission with your gift to our annual fund. It’s you who make the difference for many.
Thank you and happy holidays – Julie
Happy Holidays!
“Kindness is like snow. It beautifies everything it covers.”
– Kahlil Gibran
Thank all of you for your kindness & support this year! May the joy of the holiday season be with you today and throughout the New Year!

Snowed in? Bored? Well, then, read the new Gray Matters and plan a spring trip!
Yes that’s right, the Winter edition of our newsletter, Gray Matters, is now fresh in your mailbox. And not the mailbox you have to trudge through the snow to get to. Read all about plans for the upcoming 35th Anniversary Celebration, see what students, drivers and volunteers have been doing, and discover details for new travel plans.
Travel? Today? Absolutely not, but once you read about the spring trip you can get excited for travel the way it should be – enjoyable and preferably without icy roads.
Click here to read Gray Matters. Click here to read the travel flyer. Click here to make the roads better (sorry, we wish there was link for that). Everyone stay safe and Shepherd yourselves accordingly.

Correction to Open University Schedule
We would like to apologize for and correct the error in the credentials of our instructor, Rena Berlin. Ms. Berlin is a former Fairfax County teacher and retired director of education at the Virginia Holocaust Museum. We hope you can join us for her class, The Darkest Moment: The Holocaust, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursdays at First Presbyterian Church. To view the full Open University schedule, please click here.
