Good afternoon everyone! We now know what the remaining shows are on the Jack Welsh Memorial Broadway Tour. The two off-Broadway shows are going to be The Band’s Visit, which is a “ravishing musical” and Three Tall Women, which has won a number of awards. It’s going to be fantastic!
Last night’s theatrical celebration in honor of the life of our dear friend, Jack, was an absolutely superb tribute. There were musical selections from Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, intertwined with the account of what it took to get this production on the stage, as well as tales of Jack’s life and loved ones. It was narrated by Bruce Miller and Phil Whiteway, with a surprise special guest performer (all 3 former students of Jack’s), along with four very talented local stage actors and three musicians.
There is one more performance at VA Rep’s Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn (1601 Willow Lawn Dr., 23230) tonight, December 4th, at 7:00 pm, with a reception to follow. You don’t want to miss it. Anyone who would like to attend can contact Hannah Miller at VA Rep by email (hmiller@virginiarep.org) or by phone (804-783-1688 ex. 1123).
There will also be one final performance at Westminster Canterbury on Tuesday, December 5th, at 7:30 pm. If you would like to see it there, you will have to make arrangements with Westminster Canterbury or get a resident to host you.
We hope you can join us – Julie
