Today is Giving Tuesday – a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.
Because 2024 marks the 40th Anniversary of The Shepherd’s Center of Richmond, we set a goal to raise $40,000 this fiscal year so that we can continue to better serve you, the members of the Center, and the greater Richmond community.
We have already raised $22,313. We need to raise an additional $17,687 by June 30, 2024, to meet our goal.
Won’t you consider donating $40 – or better yet, some multiple of $40 – on this Giving Tuesday?
There’s lots of exciting news coming from The Shepherd’s Center! The administrative office is moving into a historic building on Monument Avenue, our Board President, Peter Pettit, is featured in an article in The Richmond Free Press, and we’re forming a new Events committee! All that and more. Stay in-the-know. Read the November, 2023, newsletter – Gray Matters – HERE.

The winter 2023 Open University schedule is online at tscor.org right now and due to arrive in mailboxes soon! Classes start Monday, January 9th. But first, some announcements:
Mondays continue to meet in person.
Thursdays are ONLINE ONLY. This is a change from the fall session.
Some classes and all of the lunch speakers are hybrid – you can attend in person, or virtually via Zoom.
TSCOR and OU follow CDC Covid guidelines. Masks are optional, but recommended in smaller classrooms. See the current CDC guidelines here.
Everyone is eager for the start of the fall Open University session this coming Monday. A couple things to note so you’re all ready:
One, there’s been a change to the Monday, Sept. 20 Lunch Speaker. In lieu of the previously scheduled, “Virginia Voice: Eyes for Those Who Can’t See,” Dr. Karen Sherry, curator at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, will present, “Moral, Maternal, Mannish, & Monstrous: Suffragist Images, 1900-1920.”
And two, Zoom links for all classes and speakers will arrive to your email Sunday evening. Remember to check your spam and junk folders if you don’t see them in your inbox!
Now you’re all set! Keep your mind as sharp as your pencils; learn something new at the OU!
Time to turn those pandemic frowns upside down! It took us a little longer than we would’ve liked – thanks to a few unexpected COVID precautions – but the fall 2021 OU schedule is here!!!
A few things to know: Classes are entirely online for the fall 2021 session. No in-person classes will be held. The fall tuition deal is available this year. Hard copies of the schedule will arrive in mailboxes next week.
And don’t forget this! TSCOR members get FREE access to ALL of the lunch speakers. Even if you aren’t taking classes this session, make OU a part of your lunch hour.
So get out your calendar, peruse the schedule, and work on that smile! (If you have a frowny friend, share the schedule with them! We’re one big Zooming family around here.)
